After reviewing the latest weather conditions and updated forecasts, the school closure for Thursday, May 8th, has been canceled. Classes will resume and follow a normal schedule. Thanks for your flexibility and understanding.
Due to forecasted flash flooding, all schools and administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, May 7th, and Thursday, May 8th. Lesson content will be delivered remotely through Google Classroom or written assignments. Completed assignments will serve as attendance documentation.

Glendale Elementary is sad to announce the passing of our beloved
former teacher and principal, Mrs. Phyllis Ortego, on Saturday, March
29, 2025. In 1986, she began as a teacher at Glendale. In 2000, she
became principal and retired in 2009.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Apr 19, 2025 from
9 A. M. to 12 P.M at Quirk and Son funeral home in Eunice, La.
Although Mrs. Ortego, as she was known to her staff and
students, never had children of her own, she dedicated her career to
nurturing and inspiring children, educators and the entire school
community.
Throughout her tenure, Mrs. Ortego was not just a Principal but
a true leader and mentor to many. She had an unwavering
commitment to students' success and well-being, always encouraging
them to strive for greatness and to pursue their dreams. She loved her
babies as she would call them. Her legacy will continue to inspire
generations of students and staff alike.
Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband, Hilliard Ortego
and her loved ones during this difficult loss. She was one of a kind. To
honor her memory, let us carry forward the values and lessons Mrs.
Ortego instilled in us, share our memories of her in the comments for
us to enjoy, and remember the remarkable person that she was. Rest
in peace Mrs. Phyllis Ortego. You will be deeply missed.
